Rage Yoga was created by Lindsay Istace in 2015. Its origins were humble, coming to life in a basement pub where the alternative scene liked to hang. It was a place where you could be yourself on the mat with all the messiness that entails. Lots of people loved it! And lots of people hated it. But Rage Yoga has always been about more than just beer, cursing, and heavy metal

Hi! My name is Lindsay.

I founded Rage Yoga in 2015.

Why? Well… I went through a rough breakup. It’s cliché as fuck, I know, but there you have it.

I was falling apart. No matter how hard I tried to pretend to be okay, my sadness and anger started to come out in my practice. At first, I thought that meant I was doing it wrong but I leaned into the discomfort anyway. I let myself be a mess. Then something cool happened. I was finally able to let that shit go. 

I told a friend about how I was tying these two things together and she said “if you taught a Rage Yoga class, I would definitely come!”

This is how I started teaching classes at Dickens Pub, a badass bar in Calgary, Alberta. Word got out and suddenly it took off in a way I never expected! Since then we’ve led retreats, workshop tours, certified teachers and even published a book. We’re on a mission to help people step into their most badass selves.
