Personally, I never used to bother. I thought they were half-hearted and insincere… like the Christmas cards you get from family members you haven't seen in well over a decade. The sentiment is sweet but it feels like it’s just about following protocol!
But in the last couple of years I’ve been beaten over the head with this lesson...
There are decorations, cookies, and hideous sweaters everywhere. There is no escaping it. It’s everywhere you look. Whether you love the season or not, it can be a stressful time! Between the politics of gift buying, family, party obligations, etc… a season that is commercialized as a heart warming time of connection and good cheer can quickly become exhausting and frustrating.

I know in my case that when I see a gap in calendar my first reaction is along the lines of "Heck yeah! I'm going to take that time to get centered again. I'm going to catch up on my practice, catch up with my friends and I'll be damned if I wear pants before noon!" But then my calendar slowly fills up. When that should-have-been-getting-centered-time rolls around, I end up running on caffeine and sheer willpower. But look at me I'm getting so much done! I'm a fucking winner!
