There are decorations, cookies, and hideous sweaters everywhere. There is no escaping it. It’s everywhere you look. Whether you love the season or not, it can be a stressful time! Between the politics of gift buying, family, party obligations, etc… a season that is commercialized as a heart warming time of connection and good cheer can quickly become exhausting and frustrating.

I know in my case that when I see a gap in calendar my first reaction is along the lines of "Heck yeah! I'm going to take that time to get centered again. I'm going to catch up on my practice, catch up with my friends and I'll be damned if I wear pants before noon!" But then my calendar slowly fills up. When that should-have-been-getting-centered-time rolls around, I end up running on caffeine and sheer willpower. But look at me I'm getting so much done! I'm a fucking winner!

Anybody can practice yoga at home. Over the years of practicing yoga I have experimented with various styles and teachers and still really enjoy going to a class. I love to be challenged in a new way that I don't always get from my own practice. However, my home practice has been the constant in the last two years and has enabled me to continue to teach and keep a sense of why I do this practice.
