Creating The Yoga Experience At Home For Cheap

While we all know that one person who is always motivated to workout despite questionable weather, that isn’t the case for most of us. The reality is, there are days when we don’t feel like leaving the comfort of our homes to do much of anything, let alone go to our yoga class; especially if our car is covered with a mountain of snow. Although you may not feel like venturing outside of your home, your routine does not have to be negatively affected. You can create a yoga studio right inside your house, and you don’t even need much! Here are a few tips that will help you create your very own yoga space without breaking the bank.

1 - Choose the right space

The first thing you should think about when creating a yoga experience in your home is comfort.
The less comfortable you are, the harder it will be to focus. Try to choose a space that isn’t packed with stuff. Too many unnecessary items will make the room feel small and cluttered. If necessary, you may need to get rid of a few things or move them into another room in your house. Your yoga “studio” does not have to be huge, it just needs to be spacious enough for you to feel content. No one wants to constantly bump into things while trying to do the downward dog.

2 - Clean and declutter the space

When creating your yoga space, cleanliness is extremely important.
Having a cluttered, unclean environment can prevent you from relaxing mentally and physically. Instead of focusing on loosening up, your attention will be on your messy surroundings. Cleaning the space shouldn’t be too hard if you don’t have too much in there. Doing minimal things like wiping down dirty surfaces, dusting, and vacuuming or sweeping should do the job. However, a deeper clean may be necessary depending on what room you decide to use in your house.

3 - Include comfortable seating

Wherever you decide to set up your yoga studio, just make sure you have comfortable seating.
This doesn’t mean that you have to go out and immediately buy fancy equipment. To keep it budget-friendly, all you need to do is use things that you already have in your home. To satisfy all of the couch potatoes out there, you’ll be happy to know a supportive yet comfortable sofa makes a perfect addition to your yoga routine! The staff and the lotus poses are just two of many positions that you can do right from your couch. If you’re using a sofa, then you’re most likely in your living room and around a television. Use this to your advantage and watch an online yoga video. It will make you feel as if you’re right at the yoga studio!

4 - Use the correct lighting

The type of lighting you use can set the mood of an entire room.
Some can create a soothing environment, while others can create an energized one. In this case, natural light or low lighting is best while practicing yoga. Extremely bright light is not always ideal because it is often too harsh and can prevent people from relaxing. On the other hand, warmer toned light can relieve stress and create a much needed calm environment while meditating. Natural light is also good because not only does it not cost a thing, but its warmer tones are more soothing and calming. However, sometimes natural light isn’t always the best option either, because in some situations it too can be too bright as well.

5 - Add a few plants

One of the main reasons people love going on hikes and exploring nature is for the feeling of peace and serenity it creates. You can bring that same feeling into your home by adding some greenery to a room. Plants serve as more than just beautiful decor pieces. Some of them have medicinal properties that help to relieve stress, promote wellness, and combat anxiety. Lavender is a great plant to place around any room you’re in because it has many stress-relieving properties and can help you relax your mind and body. The best part is that lavender plants are relatively inexpensive, and you can find them at many stores.

6 - Get Unconventional

Don’t let someone tell you that it’s not okay to do yoga in your car, at home, or any other somewhat unconventional location. As long as it’s a place that you feel comfortable and relaxed, then you can do yoga there. Also, realize that you don’t have to spend an excessive amount of money either. With a few small additions, you'll have your at-home yoga studio up and running in no time!
